Design| NONFICTION Hits NYC’s Lower East Side W/ First US Store

New York City’s Lower East Side becomes the home to NONFICTION‘s first ever brick & mortar to come to the US. Located at 38 Orchard Street in LES, the Charlap Hyman & Herrero design has finally opened its doors.

Charlap Hyman & Herrero design and architecture studio joins with NONFICTION to re-imagine a space that fuses the heritage of the brand’s Seoul origin with that renowned New York aesthetic. The space is inspired by the brand ethos centered around reflection and sensory intended to create a sense of pause, presence and resting. The decision for the Lower East Side location pairs with the history of the neighborhood and the cultural richness that is associated. Minimalism and contrast played the lead roll for the venue’s interior as you are engulfed in lime-washed walls that meet oxblood-tile. Subtle features that further highlight the space include bold geometric forms, including a sharp triangular mass at the entrance alongside a floor-to-ceiling mirrored column that leaks a deep amber lighting, Balancing all of these design components are furniture selections such as an 18th-century Queen Anne candlestand and a contemporary mahogany table by Doug McCollough.

Upon the opening, the NYC store will offer an exclusive perfume tag adorned with the bespoke rose motif and scented with THE ROSE.
