Architectural design studio Tololo Ugarte has unveiled their latest project stationed in Limache within the Valparaíso Region of Chile dubbed the Catalejo House.
Nestled in the monumental rain forest landscape fueled by the oasis of ancient quillayes and molles trees, which allows the house to emerge organically within the terrain. The highly fertile soil on the vast plot of land is exceptionally sensitive and the design is very mindful of these natural rules and habitat based consideration. Presented as the “spyglass” micro-house, this constructional experiment blurs the lines between the indoors and the majestic outdoors. The significant feature that boosts the property is the prominent circular, vaulted roof crafted from a combination of steel and wood. Leveraging the many features such as interior layout which transforms the house into a living piece of art as the windows play as a dynamic frame for your viewing pleasures.
The environmental integration is highlighted by the materiality and construction of the Catalejo house that was brilliantly picked by Tololo Ugarte. Specific materials were chosen to generate a mimesis with the surrounding landscape, providing a seamless fusion within the natural surroundings.
