Art & Lifestyle |House for a Photographer by Hyde Architects

Hyde Architects designs an isolated, disused quarry hanging on the edge of Brecon National Park titled “House for a Photographer“. This structure takes on the behavior of a cameras Obscura, with its distant views given by the lighting and focusing that it allows due to it being suspended within a basin. The house’s first floor cantilever slab is constructed with in-situ concrete, while a combined heat recovery unit is used in conjunction with high performance insulated structural panels for the walls and 2nd floor. All of this helps to achieve a high level of thermal efficiency and air tightness.
