• Art, Design, Fashion and everything StarWars seem to meet at the latest art exhibit at adidas Originals‘ SoHo store location. Sneaker enthusiast, Hip-Hop head and mask designer Gary Lockwood or better known as FreeHand Profit once again joins forces with renown sneaker brand adidas Originals for yet another amazing art exhibit. Freehand is responsible for curating futuristic tribal style mask crafted from select editions of deconstructed adidas.
Freehand and adidas have a budding history as they recently collaborated on a multi0platform campaign dubbed “Original Is Never Finished” which showcased these custom-crafted mask on top streetwear influencers across many platforms. From this project, seven mask were selected to be showcased as apart of the New York exhibited titled ‘#SNEAKERHEAD‘. Some of adidas favorite silhouettes such as their NMD and EQT are utilized in this collectio of mask. Freehand has a unique gift in being able to detail fine design mask from footwear and this has become a viral phenom as of late.
Freehand expresses briefly, “You can call what I do Hip-Hop steampunk, or Hip-Hop cosplay. Whatever the spin, Hip-Hop is at the heart of it,“ offers Freehand Profit. “I think of chopping up sneakers the way a DJ or producer samples a record, taking an existing art form and scratching, cutting and remixing until you have an entirely new art form.”
