Design| Chaoffice Presents “House Under the Boat” w/ Zen-Focused Designs

Chaoffice is a Bejing-based architectural design studio that is dedicated to re-imagining urban living environments and has continued to make historic creations in their career. Established in 2016 by founder Cheng Zhi, the design brand started to become renowned for their poetic approach to design.

Adding to their roster of amazing finishes, Chaoffice re-discovers what is dubbed “House Under the Boat” which is nestled near the Chaobai River wetlands in Bejing. The intent with this design is the fusion of a home and place of study for a professional client. This notion is presented in the bookshelves and desks that are present at almost every twist and turn in the house. The spacious living spaces are very well lit due to the genius-ly placed windows which peek into the patio along with integrated glass ceilings.

“Within this site, the spatial forms are diverse and intricate. Existing sloped-roof buildings, a vast library, and newly constructed smaller flat-roof structures coexist. These different structures interconnect, descending from south to north along the original elevation axis,“

– Chaoffice explained.
