Tech| Brian Eno Re-Emerges with Turntable II Inspired by Lights & Color

Musician and designer, Brian Eno returns with his second reiteration of his renowned Turntable. The Turntable II is a more colorful and interactive rendition of the turntable that has become so notable and desired.

Expanding from the first version, Brian Eno delivers a vibrant version of his original turntable that is fueled by his love of light within his works. His history of light infatuation started in the 1960’s which makes its influence visible in this latest release. This unique tool is great for listening to outstanding music like Brain Eno’s but it now has a visual appeal that allows it to be artistically enjoyable.

“When it doesn’t have to do anything in particular, like play a record, it is a sculpture. So I like the idea of this continuity,”

says Brian Eno

The design notes for the Turntable II include the acrylic LED lights that create an orb-like experience. The interactive turntable changes colors while the turntable is in use. Referred to as the ‘colorscape’ by Brian, the turntable ventures through color waves like orange and red shades but also neon pink and green. The color changes are programmed to rotate slowly and randomly.

The Turntable II is not designed for everyday use making it more of a collector’s item which is why it’s priced at $25,000 USD (£20,000 GBP).
