Lifestyle| Top Suggested Spirits to Enjoy feat. Wooden Cork

Renowned online liquor retailer Wooden Cork has recently shared ideas on some of the best spirits to enjoy in 2024 from a collection of recently released brands and batches. With our growing relationship, we have taken it upon ourselves here at GoodGarbs to list a few of those brand’s supported by the Wooden Cork family.

From 30-year-old whiskeys to 100% agave tequilas, Wooden Cork delivers specialized and rare spirits to their global audience of liquor enthusiasts. Staying true to the culture of fine spirit drinking, Wooden Cork shares a few of the most recent releases and creations.

First up is BrewDog‘s latest creation of Casa Rayos Tequila in collaboration with the Orendain family. Named after the mythological term “a lucky strike”, in which comes from the idea that someone witnessed a thunderbolt hit an agave plant, which created the juices that led to the discovery of tequila. Casa Rayos is labeled to be loaded with lime & orange citrus zest.

With a clear vision of the style of Tequila we wanted to create, we didn’t want to wait any longer so we set off to find the spirit we wanted to bottle. The partnership with Orendain made this possible. They distil some of the best tequila in Mexico and it was a dream for us to collaborate on creating this one-of-a-kind Tequila.

Steven Kersley, Master Distiller

Next, we have Kentucky’s own Bullet Frontier Whiskey who is unveiling their first American Single Malt. With a mash bill of 100% malted barley, this batch is aged in charred new American white oak barrels. This rendition from Bullet is noted to have hints of “sweet vanilla” and “toasted oak”. In a newly growing malt category, Bullet waste no time getting in on the brewing.

“With a 100% malted barley mash bill, and a striking green bottle created from post-consumer recycled glass, this exceptional whiskey covers a lot of new ground for the brand. I believe we’ve succeeded in crafting a distinctive American single malt that whiskey lovers across the country will savor and enjoy.”

Jesse Damashek, senior vice-president of whiskies and liqueurs at Diageo

A featured suggestion is the Scottish based luxury distillery known as Bruichladdich and their most recent offering of their 30-year-old aged whiskey. With an already established refined range, Bruichladdich has presented their, perhaps, most distinguished release yet. This mothballed batch from 1994, matured in Bourbon casks and then swapped into fresh barrels for the latter 10 years of aging. The notes for this collection are described as a mix of toasted oak, honey and soft vanilla are all adorned with a hint of dark chocolate.

Every single element of The Bruichladdich Eighteen – from the specific harvest and barely varietals used to the exact casks it has matured in – is fully traceable. Which, for a whisky of this age, is quite incredible,

Adam Hannett, Bruichladdich’s head distiller

Last up is the Tequila Don Julio Alma Miel, which is a añejo and blanco Tequilas blend finished in Crémant du Limoux wine casks and the latter distilled with oven-roasted agave honey. This is a delight served neat, on the rocks or as a tasteful cocktail.
