Saturday, October 26th, The LA-based Live Art Battle competition, Secret Walls, traveled their event series known as “The Art of Competition” to the Big Apple. It has been a few years since Secret Walls journeyed their audience and artists to NYC and the energy and experience showcased that Secret Walls was thrilled to host the competition and at no other than the hidden away venue known as No One Home.
“The Art of Competition” Tour has produced signature pieces from new and familiar artists at some breathe-taking locations that allowed the energetic audience to partake on a high-tempo art extravaganza. The stop in New York was no different but naturally provided a one-of-a-kind NYC aesthetic that ushered in New York natives who have an infinity for fine and graphic art. The night was fueled by Monster Energy Ultra while the vibe for the evening was managed by amazing local DJ Gianni Lee. The entire evening maintained a charisma and was called ‘play by play’ by the host Che Anderson. Guest also enjoyed additional beverages from the tour sponsors Rabble Wines and more.
No One Home venue is a staple location for Soccer fanatics in the New York City area allowing it to be in the center of everything while still maintaining a sense of mystery. The speakeasy style venue is a lavish architecture which utilizes a quaint space for maximum enjoyment. As guests watched the live battle with a touch of angst, they were surrounded in comfort and decor as solo arm chairs pulled to marbled bar tables were the seating choices. Many stood as the bar in the rear of the venue was a popular location while the teams of artists rigorously crafted works of art. The dim-lit location provided the sensory dynamics that kept the audience’s attention focused on the painting presentation.
“With four sold out shows completed, we were thrilled to return to New York and continue the tour in the city that never sleeps. Additionally, we brought the SW Academy to NYC with Classic Football Shirts, seeking to empower new emerging artists. The sights, sounds, and excitement was contagious as our exciting and innovative artists and amazing partners created an epic battleground.”
Terry Guy, Founder.
Starring Jason Naylor, Lamour Supreme, Ross Pino and Jappy Agoncillo, the New York-based artists were divided into teams and provided POSCA paint markers, paint brushes, spray paint, and paint rollers to showcase their work against a giant wall as their canvas. With only 90 minutes to ideate and complete their piece, the teams faced-off against each other in a frantic adrenaline rush energized by the cheers of the crowds. Special guest judges — and a decibel meter measuring audience reaction — helped to determine the winner of each battle. Jappy and Lamour beat out Jason and Ross on the night!
Tickets for more upcoming stops are still available and can be purchased at Secret Walls website.
