Steeped away is the private Parisian residence located near the Bois de Boulogne and the Louis Vuitton Foundation, that has brilliantly been crafted by the architect tandem Samantha Hauvette and Lucas Madani. The residence draws inspiration from Japanese sensibilities while maintaining modern architectural touches that showcase balance between interior architecture and the surrounding landscape. The full design draws direct influence from Tadao Ando (who is notable for architectural minimalism) and Andrée Putman (for influencing the open-plan layout).
The three level residence is fueled by a poised palette of natural materials allowing wood to play as the unifying material choice throughout the structure. Placements like the custom oak shelving, oak parquet flooring and custom cabinetry throughout the kitchen and dining spaces, shine light on the utilization of that wood choice coming to life. By floor, the first floor houses the plush kitchen that is highlighted by it’s oak and green quartz alongside the custom dining room that features furniture adorned in upholstery in Dedar fabric. Attached to this is the Japanese-inspired garden curated by Aliénor de Baillencourt, which provides the illusion of expanded space. The second floor caters to the children with a kids’ bedroom featuring a custom Ralph Lauren and Elitis headboard, while the third floor is home to the master suite which promotes the architectural brilliance via the vaulted ceilings and a custom oak headboard.
