Today, MARO releases her new album, SO MUCH HAS CHANGED. The all-English record marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Lisbon-born indie-pop multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer, widely regarded as one of the most distinctive and respected voices to emerge from Portugal in recent years.
SO MUCH HAS CHANGED emerges from a period of profound personal and artistic transformation. Written around the milestone of turning 30, it is a deeply intimate coming-of-age record shaped by introspection, gratitude and an awareness of the journey travelled so far. Warm, honest and quietly confident, the album captures the moment where urgency gives way to reflection, and self-acceptance replaces striving. These are songs about emotional release, learning to love without expectation, and finding joy after difficulty, tender without fragility and hopeful without naivety rewarding deep listening and unfolding with a sense of emotional closure.
In this new work, MARO deepens her musical language, exploring new sonic textures and emotional narratives without ever losing the authenticity that has established her as one of todays most compelling voices. At a time when audiences are increasingly turning away from performative self-improvement and grand declarations, MARO offers something far more resonant: stillness, clarity and joy in the everyday. While stadium pop dominates headlines, her work stands as a powerful counterpoint, intimate, emotionally literate and deeply connected.
SO MUCH HAS CHANGED is, above all, an honest portrait of who MARO is today and of the path she continues to build. MARO will take the album on tour this spring, including a headline show at London’s Roundhouse on 11th March.
