Art & Design| Ace Hotel’s “American Trade Hotel” Opens in Panama City

• As big fans of the vibe of all of the ACE Hotels, we were happy to see this write-up on Yatzer of the Panama City location, the American Trade Hotel. Designed by ACE veterans Commune Design, the hotel is a fresh, airy space which incorporates materials and design details native to the region. With hand-painted patterned tiles, floors made from sunken logs salvaged from the canal, and a mix of antiques and contemporary furnishings, the resulting design is a refreshing combination of expert attention to traditional detail and a stylish and hip aesthetic. Restrained and perfectly placed touches of dark woods and black details help balance the colonial references with an urban, contemporary design style enabling the space to walk the fine line between modern luxury and regional charm.
