After unveiling their coupled “Monthless” pack earlier this month, Finnish-based footwear design brand Karhu returns with an Aria 95 shoe inspired by Tove Jansson’s adored Moomin characters. scaling the list of Moomin digital archive of characters, Karhu landed on the brand’s ski themed 1957 book Moominland Midwinter to decorate the mid-90s runner.
The construct of the Aria 95’s upper design resembles the hill that Moomintroll learns to ski on in the story. Additionally, the over-all pattern displays the skiing Moomintroll which adorns the upper & tongue while one side of the heel features a small graphic of the worried-looking Moomin character. The 75th anniversary Moomin logo is accented in a colorful print and is also on the footbed design. The “Rainy Day/Stellar” colorway is offered up in support of the book’s original illustrated cover.
The Moomins Karhu Aria 95 will launch February 22 for £125 (approx. $160 USD) via an online raffle on HANON’s website.
