Footwear| ASICS Teams with COSTS On GEL-LYTE III OG “Cane Vine”

Returning with another exciting release announcement is the footwear powerhouse ASICS, with yet another global partnership. ASICS teams with Shenzhen-based fashion brand COSTS on a special edition of the GEL LYTE III OG‘s dubbed “CANE VINE” – paying homage to the Cantonese heritage while fusing in a retro style.

Utilizing tonal panels and meshing in intricate details, the ‘CANE VINE’ showcases some signature notes throughout the design that best represent the collaboration and influence both brands have grown and learned from. COSTS team informs us that this rendition is inspired by lychee vines, “a symbol of growth, an ode to the vibrancy of life.” Significant highlights of this are displayed in the colorways – such as olive green, earthy brown and beige – and are placed on footwear fabric favorites like suede and cotton hemp. The importance of these choices is to highlight certain Cantonese nuances and provides what COSTS describes as a “Chinese Zen atmosphere.”

Throughout the shoe design, you will spot more symbolic design notes such as the olive-green vines representing the partnership between COSTS and ASICS. You will notice lychee vine prints and themes detailed on the shoes split tongue, shoelaces and even the sock-liner. The most noticeable of features are the embroidered “COSTS” and “ASICS” branding that is placed on the heel accompanied by the Chinese writing of “extend” in green thread.

With no official retail date, the GEL LYTE III OG ‘CANE VINE’ rendition is set to be released August 19 via COSTS’ official site and stores. This will have a follow-up release via ASICS’ retailers on August 25th.
