Design| Here is a Closer Look at Louis Vuitton’s “LV The Place Bangkok”

In the heart of Bangkok, Thailand, renowned fashion-powerhouse, Louis Vuitton has placed an extraordinary new multi-faceted experimental building dubbed “LV The Place Bangkok.” Intended to be a fully immersive experience for visitors, the building plays as an exhibition of the lavish history along with a custom cafe which provides  a range of sweet treats, drinks and exclusive items. Adding to the fullness of this space is the partnered restaurant with celebrated Chef Gaggan Anand.

What once was the Gaysorn Amarin shopping mall, has been renovated into an interactive retail, dining and overall cultural experience, all under one roof. The expansive venue is broken down into four sections of engagement and experience that we have detailed below.

Visionary Journeys Exhibition

At the ground level of the LV The Place Bangkok, is the “Visionary Journeys” exhibition, which highlights the Louis Vuitton’s storied heritage. This portion of the building was a partnered project with architectural company OMA and Partner Shohei Shigematsu. Details from the exhibit include the “Trunkscape,” where 96 Courrier trunk modules assemble, the Icons section, which pays homage to the many designs and designer bags that have been developed over the past 25 years. LV’s list of artistic directors are acknowledged as well such as Marc Jacobs, Kim Jones, Nicolas Ghesquière, Virgil Abloh and Pharrell Williams.

Le Café Louis Vuitton

Dubbed Le Café Louis Vuitton, this custom cafe is placed adjacent to the exhibition gallery and is the perfect stopping point for a brief treat. Elements of botanical gardens meet the lavish decor known by the chic designer brand. Delectable treats adorn the countertops and guests can enjoy handmade patisseries like the Star Blossom Cake, Monogram Cake and the unique Mango Sticky Rice Fizz.

The Store

What may be the most anticipated portion of the new building is the LV Store that is placed on the second level and creates an immersive shopping experience for guests. With the intent for inclusion, the Store is designed to provide a fluidity between the Men’s and Women’s sections. Apart of this collection of products, some notable items include the Alma Nano Rainbow series, a Cruise 2024 T-shirt and a unique LV Trainer Upcycling sneaker, designed by the late Virgil Abloh. These pieces tend to be highly sought after items that are hard to find.

Gaggan at Louis Vuitton

The final component of the LV building is the partnered restaurant dubbed “Gaggan at Louis Vuitton” by celebrated chef Gaggan Anand. Located on the upper level of this renovated construct, is the outstanding restaurant with a menu derived from the 5 “S” – Sweet, Sour, Salty, Spicy, and Surprise, featuring exclusive seasonal dishes. Decor and luxury exude from every corner of this restaurant adding to this already lavish experience while guest get to enjoy the choice between reserving an 8-course lunch experience or a 17-course dinner experience, priced at 4,000+ THB ($112 USD) and 8,000+ THB ($225 USD) respectively. Extremely unique dishes are apart of the experience like the popular “Lick It Up” dish that will have guests pick up and lick off the plate.

“I want to bring that as a second dish, so that when you come to the restaurant, you get a straight message that oh, ‘we are not here for pretentious cuisine, we’re here for good food,’”
