At the renowned Guggenheim Bilbao, legendary Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara is getting a retrospective exhibition that will be debuting soon. Infamous for his popularized manga-styled characters, Nara is labeled as a historical figure in his home land for over the past 5 decades. Utilizing his whimsical approach to serious matters, Nara has a history of pointing out the emergencies that the world faces and how he feels about the effects of these events.
The namesake of the series directly relates to the exhibition which explores Nara’s shape-shifting works along with his series of ideas. Comprised in this series includes a selection of paintings, drawings, sculptures and installations made between 1984 and 2024. This reflective solo exhibit details the many empathetic response to the people and places Nara has encountered.
Crafted by Lucía Agirre and presented by the BBVA Foundation, the exhibition will open on June 28 and run through November 3, 2024.
