With a fresh introduction into the EV space, KALMAR Automotive has made a great first impression with the unveiling of their first EV conversion dubbed the 7-97 E-Volt. For this remake, KALMAR rendered a classic Porsche 911 (964) design to mesh with their EV technology.
Starting the 7-97 E-Volt off is the upcycled Tesla Model S drivetrain, producing 450 hp and 486 lb-ft of torque, getting this Porsche to move from 0 to 62 mph in under four seconds. This being an EV vehicle, the distance is naturally a topic and the 7-97 offers a driving range of up to 180 miles. The car is equipped with two driving modes – Eco and Sport – which adds to the performance and efficiency.
Performance is a focus for KALMAR but also is sustainability, which is displayed in the material choices made for this design. The 7-97 E-Volt recycles materials from the donor vehicle, including recast aluminum and reformed glass, while its lightweight body panels are made from plant fiber. These eco-friendly flax fibers reduce CO2 emissions by 78 percent compared to traditional carbon fiber.
We looked to see how far we could take its green credentials.
Founder Jan Kalmar emphasizes
The 7-97 EV Porsche 911 has a price tag ranging from €450,000 EUR or approximately $500,000 USD, with high-performance, environmentally conscious options available.
