Hailing from Montreal is the design house NatureHumaine who recently teamed up with a local couple to reimagine a woodland cabin getaway, perfectly placed in the forest of Quebec. With brief detailing on the desired look outside of the instructions of “the ultimate place to switch-off“, the team quickly gain inspiration from the name provided by the clients dubbed “selenite” (which refers to crystalline mineral also known as “moonstone”).
Reaching to accomplish this objective, the design provides the display of comfort and serenity in the structure and color choices. Top prioritized features included universal access for visitors which is provided with the wooden walkway that leads from the driveway to the houses sliding door entrance. The house itself is a white cube structure with an added diamond structure formed by the sloping roof. Lighting is a pivotal component and is matched with the sky-lighting that is utilized across the entirety of the house. Large bay windows are added in for more natural lighting that brings warmth to the white and wooden interior.
Focusing on the need for this space to provide maximum relaxation, the house also features a steam bath, sauna, spa, cold bath and salt room. More detailing can be found in the material choice which show up in the form of hemp wool, while all paints, stains and interior finishes are free of any harmful chemicals.
