The iconic Japanese anime series Evangelion, celebrates their 30th Anniversary and to commemorate that great achievement, they recently announced their new collaboration with G-Shock. This special release is a facelift to a popular G-Shock silhouette, the GA-110EVA30 is a recreation featuring a distinctive mechanical aesthetic of EVA unit, commissioned by the series’ mechanical designer, Yamashita Ikuto.
It’s an instant homage being showcased on the watches design dedicated to the EVA-01 unit with notable features such as horns from Unit-01’s head at the 12 o’clock band, EVA-01 unit’s face integrated into the bezel, and a depiction of the left arm poised to throw the Spear of Longinus, extending from the bottom of the bezel to the 6 o’clock band. An adverse message is also tucked away in the design such as an Angel motif adorns the inset hand at 9 o’clock, while the Y-shaped dial divider showcases the series’ recognizable black and yellow “Caution” pattern. To highlight the 30th anniversary on the design, the “Neon Genesis” on the band ring and the NERV logo on the band tip showcase the 30th-anniversary logo. In addition, this special edition comes in unique packaging printed with the Evangelion 30th-anniversary graphic.
The Evangelion x G-SHOCK collaboration GA-110EVA30 will be made available via raffle on Casio G-SHOCK’s site until October 6, a general release of this collaboration is also scheduled for October 17.
