Cars| Ferrari Unveils A One-Off SC40 Paying Homage To The 296 GTB

Ferrari’s newly promoted Special Projects Programme unveils it’s latest exclusive project dubbed the SC40. This re-imagined one-off, built for a private client, is a brilliant mesh of the legendary Ferrari F40 and the stunning power performance of the 296 GTB.

Steeped in Ferrari aesthetic from the exterior build to the interior touch, this SC40 shares its formidable powertrain with the 296 GTB while alluring viewers with the notable F40 body frame. The performance is defined by a 20-degree 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 654 horsepower and 546 lb-ft of torque. That raw power is boosted by a compact axial-flux electric motor, which is strategically positioned between the engine and the eight-speed F1 dual-clutch transmission. The combination of these added touches masterfully produces a massive 819 horsepower, ensuring the SC40 delivers the blistering performance.

The design has notable features such as a dramatic, long nose and a commanding, high-level fixed rear wing that extends vertically from the engine cover. Mimicking that of the F40, detail serves the nostalgic theme. The rear fascia is finished in open mesh to cool the engine, while the sides boast triangular carbon-fiber accents.

The rare Ferrari SC40 is now on display at the Ferrari Museum, giving enthusiasts a rare look into this singular piece of automotive art.
