Watches| The Rare Yellow Gold Ref. 6062 Rolex Is Sold For 6.2 Million USD at Auction

At the most recent Monaco Legends auction, was the selling of one of the rarest Rolex watches ever made dubbed the ‘Ref. 6062’ which sold for €5,330,000 EUR (approx. $6.2 million USD).

This Moonphase Triple Calendar automatic cased in 18K yellow gold, which has a production year of 1953, is a homage piece dedicated to a time where Rolex paired their complete calendar complication with their Oyster case, known for it’s reliable waterproof casing. With only 350-examples produced, the 6062 is notably one of the rarest iterations from Rolex, making this auction sale not only significant in cost of sale but also being one of the rarest watches to sell at this auction. Significant design notes include the very unique black‑dial variants with diamonds. The design iteration of this specific series is that of one of the most sought after adding to the rarity that this watch provides. After long-private ownership, the watch makes it’s way back to the market since it’s last auction selling in 2006 at the Antiquorum’s Mondani Collection auction.
