The Peridot Bar by Studio Paolo Ferrari is the latest project by the design company and is brilliantly placed on the 38th floor of The Henderson, the heart-halting architectural tower in Central, Hong Kong, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects.
For this project, Ferrari re-imagined the space for the bar into an intimate yet cinematic aesthetic that provides a “Timeless Futurism” decor that hosts a duality of modern touches steeped in old-world influence. Tucked away inside the ZHA-designed sculptural tower, the prestigious bar is presented in a cocoon-like environment that is adorned in soft green plastered walls and ceilings that mesh to feel like one complete carpet wrapped venue. Throughout the entirety of the space are the protruded glowing frosted acrylic cylinders capped in steel. Meant to be a lighting feature, these featured structures are illuminated by the natural light provided by the ceiling to floor windows.
Further features making this venue a tourist must visit when in Hong Kong include Ferrari’s hallmark touches that take focus on evoking emotions while experiencing their space. Notes that make the Bar a social haven consist of touches like plush mohair seating, high-gloss lacquered furnishings, and carved alcoves creating an intimate environment. The venue centralizes patrons focus with the center bar, carved from green marble and is magnified by the experience provided the bar-tending staff managed by mixologist François Cavelier. This portion of the venue is most cinematic as the half-moon bar showcases where the function meets theater while boosting acoustics for a dramatic drinking experience.
The Peridot Bar is rounded out by a hidden private room, featuring a bespoke stainless steel and marble bottle display, engineered as much as sculpted.
