• Renown streetwear past master Joshua Vides, surfaces with intentions of taking on the Art world directly and is doing so by making real-life items appear as simple, black & white sketches. Utilizing everyday & idolized items such as Air Jordan 1’s, basketball hoops, street signs, an Acura NSX 1995 and even a porta pottie are gilded by white paint and black sharpie all drawn by hand. To provide the full illusion, Vides recently took over The Seventh Letter Art Gallery in Los Angeles for his exhibition dubbed “Reality To Idea“.
The exhibit headlines with that cult-favorited Acura NSX 1995 as the center-piece of this series. The Acura recieves that monochrome makeover that decieves the eye into believing it’s merely a picture drawing. The walls are plastered with Vides’ popular cones and checkered flags to complement the gallery. “The idea is to highlight the initial sketches of ideas and concepts, bringing them to life. An ode to the napkin sketch and a reminder to not throw your ideas away,” Vides told our friends at HYPEBEAST.
