Harlem’s own Ron Draper continues to shine light on societal issues, cultural relevance and black excellence through his favorite medium .. Art. This NAACP & Urban League award winner is returning to his renown art studio in Bronx, New York, with a new installation dubbed “#DRAPERTHINKSOUTLOUD”.
Ron’s 2018 #NOTxNORMAL collection was a visual representation of how the
War on Drugs in this United States has impacted and continues to influence the state of freedom for people of color. It was told through a six-part narrative of Draper’s personal experience with the ripple effect of drug usage, anti-drug propaganda, and the disproportionate penalties for drug offense in the black community.
April 27th, Ron will showcase #DraperThinksOutloud, which encourages viewers to consider what happens after all of that comes crashing down and the need for self-healing can start. Known for his larger than life size pieces, we can only assume that Ron will continue to make impressionable installments that hold a much need conversation behind it’s design.
