Music| History Is Made as Burna Boy Becomes First African Artist Ever to Sell Out U.S Stadium

The renowned GRAMMY® Award-winning global superstar, Burna Boy, returns to the history books with his recent sold-out show at New York City’s Citi Field stadium. This historical experience makes Burna the first African artist in history to sell out a stadium in the U.S., as the Nigerian showman commanded a crowd of more than 40,000 fans. Amongst the general population of listeners including celebs like Busta Rhymes, SZA, NBA star Mo Bamba, NFL star Larry Ogunjobi, and British rapper Dave, who also joined Burna on stage for a special performance of their hit song “Location.” 

Some of Burna’s special moments included a performance of his newest single, “Sittin’ On Top Of The World,” a sneak peak of his unreleased track “Big 7,” and an explosive finale where the crowd belted every word to the star’s massive hit “Last, Last” while fireworks lit up the sky. 

In Burna Boy’s list of history-making markers, just in the last year, the African Giant became the first African musician to sell-out the world-famous Madison Square Garden, he sold-out London Stadium, performing for 80,000 fans. In 2021, Burna became the first Nigerian artist to win a GRAMMY® Award in an album category, taking home Best Global Music Album for ‘Twice As Tall.’ His 2022 follow-up, ‘Love, Damini,’ became the highest charting album by a Nigerian artist.
