Anticipation has been at an all-time high since Kendrick Lamar’s verse on “WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU”, and with true lyrical marksmanship, J. Cole took to the airwaves and gave fans what they wanted.
On his surprise EP dubbed “Might Delete Later“, Cole delivers his pinpointed response right at his fellow rap mate Kendrick. In the last song of the EP, “7 Minute Drill“, Cole delivers some of his most pungent yet directly focused bars to date. Delivered over a Conductor and T-minus production, this song seems deliberately placed so the EP can be enjoyed while everyone rushes to Cole’s response. The 3-minute song is brilliantly designed with a very suggestive hook and verses that don’t hide Cole’s hand but rather places the competition on the table.
Leaving the lyrical war alone, the remainder of the EP is fueled by great features such as Ari Lennox, Ab-Soul, Gucci Mane, Daylyte, Bas, Central Cee and Cam’Ron. The twelve-song project is a collection that was being teased by Cole over the last month in his “Might Delete Later Vol 1 & 2“, which lead fans and spectators to believe a body of work was heading our way. Samplings of songs were served to on lookers of the short-lived Vlog series that provided behind the scenes experiences with Cole during his tour time of others. The momentum has boosted the hype of what is Cole’s seventh studio album. The release is just in time for Cole’s renowned Dreamville Festival in Reileigh, NC.
