The name Kehlani has been buzzing for the last few months and with a new single and the anticipated “While We Wait 2“mixtape coming, Kehlani will continue to reign in R&B. Maintaining momentum, the Oakland singer/songwriter recruits Lucky Daye for her new single “When He’s Not There“.

2024 has been a triumphant year for Kehlani to say the least, as she is fresh from the release of her fourth studio album CRASH. The album boosted singles like “Next 2 U“ and the smash summer anthem, “After Hours,” which have added to the thrilling journey so far. Additionally, Kehlani has been the centerpiece for one of the latest leading singles in Hip-Hop/R&B that brilliantly is named after “Kehlani” by artist Jordan Adetunji. This new single carries the musical mantle over to Kehlani’s upcoming EP ‘While We Wait 2’ ahead of the CRASH WORLD TOUR. Due this Wednesday, the EP While We Wait 2, is featuring the latest single featuring Lucky Daye.

‘When He’s Not There’ showcases one of R&B’s best tandems’ at work, as Kehlani and Lucky Daye deliver a brilliant ballad portraying the life of a sneaky-link. The two take on a powerful production lead by vintage noted instrumentation that delivers an insistent groove. Neither artists is shy to showcase their vocals and that is no different on this single as Lucky Daye is reserved for the third verse which he matches the energy and range.

Kehlani’s 2024 seems to only be getting busier and better as she is also fresh from her NPR “Tiny Desk“ debut. After Wednesday’s EP release, Kehlani is focusing her fanbase on Tour time as she is proudly announcing her 31-city North American run. The tour takes off September 4th at The Armory in Minneapolis, MN and then travels the continent through early November. Kehlani will be joined on the tour by special guests Flo and Anycia.
