Entering the EV market is a rivaling British startup by the name Longbow that is here to rival their heavy, battery-laden competitors with a new series of extremely light-weight vehicles. Hailing from London’s Brixton district, the Longbow Speedster has been revealed as the first Featherweight Electric Vehicle (FEV) that is an all-electric sports car.
From concept to conceived and now available, the Longbow Speedster tips the scale at an awe-inspiring 1,970 pounds (895 kg), which makes it one of the lightest cars on the road. The light weight is an impressive skeleton but this does not effect the performance of the Speedster that produces 275-mile WLTP range and a blistering 0–62 mph sprint of just 3.5 seconds. Utilizing special materials such as aluminum from major brands like Tesla, Lucid, and Lotus, this pedigree has allowed them to move from design sketch to a functional demonstrator in just six months.
The Longbow Speedster is limited to just 150 hand-built examples priced at £84,995 (~$111,500) which is made available via Longbow.
