Over the weekend, New Balance and CNCPTS proudly returned to the footwear scene with their latest collaboration announcement of their ongoing re-imaging of silhouettes like the 990v4’s dubbed “Patina“. Themed after the idea of global travelers exploration, this new rendition elevates the legendary silhouette and adds an elegant lifestyle aesthetic to the design.
For the upper on these 990v4’s, the tandem throws away the traditional athletic finish and develops a heavily layered multi-material finish. The base is a neutral off-white mesh adorned with a premium multi-tone suede and leather layout. The hue choice begins with a soft-tan toe box along with all primary lateral overlays, while a deep brown perforated leather takes shape alongside the midsole. Creating more depth to design, a rich burgundy suede wraps the heel counter. Brilliantly, an earthy olive green plays as a seperator for the color exchanges placed around the outer heel, at the heel tab and even on the renowned “N” branding from New Balance.
Rounding off the full experience of the CNCPTS x New Balnce 990v4 “Patina” is the detailed packaging that accompanies it. The sneakers arrive housed in a customized box modeled after an antique travel suitcase, finished with printed travel stickers that honor both brands’ shared New England roots.
