Music| The All-Weekend War Rap Beef Saga Continues between Drake & Kendrick

The hashtag #DrakevsKendrick has been one of the busiest on social media in 2024 and this weekend marked a historical release cycle between two major artists. The scoreboard is unclear, but we have had 8 total releases, counting the Drake “The Heart part 6” release that went live Sunday night around 9:30PM. The two lyrical juggernauts have consumed this past weekend’s social attention with a series of back-n-forth releases.

Friday, May 3rd, has been labeled the crescendo of the battle series as we watch both Kendrick and Drake release their selective diss records, only for Kendrick to double down with a follow up. The world woke to ‘6:16 In LA‘ from Kendrick, which prompted Drake’s later release of “Family Matters“. That sequence of events was expected, but then Kendrick decided to respond, legitimately within minutes, with “Meet The Grahams”.

The series unveiled many theories of the opposing sides such as mishandlings of relationships, abuse allegations, family secrets and many other hyper hypothetical scenarios that have left fans in limbo. With a last-minute release, Drake takes to YouTube Sunday night to give his rebuttal (The Heart pt.6) to the unsavory allegations of under-age dating and returns to point out Kendrick in-home relationship.

Social media has had a true mix review of what the scorecard reads and how we perceive the many allegations. What we have paid close attention to is the results from this battle and the relationship to streaming numbers and billboard placements. According to Billboard, Kendrick’s streams have gone up, moving him to the 3rd (based on numbers given May 5th) most streamed artists globally across all DSP (Digital Platform Services) platforms.

We believe this Hip-Hop rap battle is far from over and we anticipate more surprise releases over the next few weeks, so stay tuned.
