Cars| Rolls-Royce Unveils a Year of the Dragon Bespoke Commissions

The Lunar Year celebration supporting the “Year of the Dragon” continues and the latest celebration design comes from luxury car-maker Rolls-Royce who announces their exclusive commission. The bespoke commission recruits the Rolls Royce Phantom in three different iterations that pay homage to the Chinese celebration.

For the Rolls-Royce Bespoke collection reimagines three series of their renowned Phantom with notes of the Dragon motif with subtle design notes and contemporary expressions utilizing the red hue. Iconic symbolism is showcased as the team of amazing engineers and designers developed unique ways to incorporate the seasonal designs into iconic vehicles.

The highlighted features consist of the primary addition of the hand painted dragon on the front passenger panel which utilizes a layered technique to create a three-dimensional effect that is accomplished by applying three different hues of red. Additional interior notes like the dragon embroidery on the headrests and a dragon motif through 677 fiber-optic “stars,” which took 20 hours of careful placement to accomplish.

“These Bespoke creations, inspired by the Year of the Dragon in 2024, celebrate the international reach and influence of Chinese culture, which transcends national boundaries. Hence, these magnificent motor cars are destined for clients based across three continents. These creations are both a powerful expression of our respect for Chinese culture, and a contemporary, minimalist statement in line with trends we see among luxury consumers worldwide.”
