
Bata Shoe Museum is home to the brilliant execution of bring shoe art to life and this continues with their latest exhibition dubbed ‘Art/Wear: Sneakers x Artists‘. This series provides a glimpse into the explosive trend which highlights the collaborations of artist and sneaker. The collection features 48 venerable artists including Takashi Murakami, Virgil Abloh, Futura and Javier Calleja.
Art/Wear series dives into several topics in the art world from graffiti to customization within fashion and art. The exhibition highlights cultural shifts that reimagined footwear fashion and sneakers alike. Each piece explains why sneakers are such an attractive canvas for artists to utilize and together creating wearable art. By blurring the boundary between art and fashion, the exhibition invites us to revisit what it means to create, collect and wear “art” today.
