The long lasting wait is finally over, after eight years since his last album release, Jermaine Cole better known as J.Cole has unveiled the anticipated “The Fall-Off‘ album.
The hour and forty minute project, with 24 songs on the track-list, is apparently a double-disc presentation by Fayetteville’s own and one of Hip-Hop’s best breathing. Split into two sides dubbed “Disc 29” and “Disc 39“, Cole explains that each is broken up into experiences a decade apart starting with Cole’s return to his hometown when he was 29 and the experiences that came with that. The follow-up Disc 39, is a deep dive into Jermaine’s psyche at 39, a married man and a father who is looking back at the legacy he has left. The project showcases all that can happen in just 8-years and Cole’s brilliant storytelling and wit shows up and performs amazingly.
J.Cole has had a unique last few years but it is obvious that he was on a mission to deliver a great piece of art to his loyal fan base. The project is a flawless return for one of rap’s leading acts and exposes why Cole is in the conversation of being one of the best to ever do it. Many speculated that Cole would spend this project leaning on explaining himself for the battle choices between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, but instead Cole delivered a true story-based project that brings a lot of real life issues to the forefront.
The project has a very short list of features such as artists like Tems, Erykah Badu, Burna Boy and Petey Pablo make the list alongside Future, who shows up twice. The full project just cements Cole’s legacy in this Hip-Hop history we are experiencing,
